Ensuring Sealing Performance for ETFE Agricultural Membrane Installation should be carried out from three dimensions: material compatibility, process control and quality inspection. The core is to eliminate leakage risks at all joints and interfaces throughout the whole installation process.
1. Pre‑installation: Select Proper Sealing Materials and Fittings
Sound sealing is based on special sealing assemblies compatible with ETFE membrane to prevent sealing failure caused by poor material compatibility.
Prioritize special sealants: Use fluorocarbon or silicone‑based sealants compatible with ETFE. They bond closely to membrane surfaces and feature weathering and aging resistance matching ETFE membrane. Ordinary rubber adhesives or acid sealants shall not be used to avoid chemical reactions or premature cracking of the membrane.
Use matched sealing accessories: Clamping grooves shall be made of aluminum alloy or stainless steel, pre‑fitted with EPDM sealing strips inside. Strip dimensions shall perfectly fit groove gaps so that membrane edges can be tightly wrapped after insertion to minimize gaps.
Check integrity of membranes and accessories: Before installation, confirm no damage or burrs on ETFE membrane edges. Ensure sealants are within validity period without caking, and sealing strips keep good elasticity without deformation, so as to prevent sealing leaks from inherent material defects.
